Weekend with Abby

This past weekend was a lot of fun! We started off Friday night by having date night just the two of us. We decided to go to Wasabi and it definitely hit the spot!

Then we went by Ulta and I picked up this kit on sale! If you have curly or wavy hair this is a must-try! I love how it makes my hair feel It doesn't feel crunchy like most products and really boosts the curl. This kit came with no-poo (shampoo without the suds), conditioner, microfiber towel for drying, and clips to give your hair more volume. It is nice to be able to go to bed at night with wet hair and wakeup in the morning looking halfway presentable. Yay DevaCurl!!

The next morning we got up bright and early to meet my family for breakfast and pick up our sweet, little friend, Abby. I have always loved babysitting, especially little girls. Miss Abby goes to the church I attended and grew up in. After our move to Knoxville, we still get to go every once in awhile, but not near as often as before. This has caused us to miss our little Abby Cadabby like crazy! Abby loves us and we love her. A couple that goes to our church got Abby when she was in the foster system with her brother and sister. They ended up splitting up the siblings, but they got to keep Miss Abby. Now you might think this is strange, but Russ and I at the age of 21 and newly married said that if Karen and Brad did not end up adopting Abby then we would love to. Of course, Karen and Brad did (and do a wonderful job), but she will always have a special place in our hearts. She has Russ wrapped around his little finger and I love to see the way he is with her. It makes me look forward to the future. ;)

Abby, Russ, and my Madre at Cracker Barrel. Abby can put down some food let me tell ya!

My precious mamaw and best friend. I love this picture!

After Cracker Barrel we headed to take Abby to her BIG surprise! She was so excited and didn't mind the drive at all. I am always amazed at how well behaved she is.

When we got there she was shaking all over with excitement and jumping up and down. We were taking her to the Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg!

Isn't she the cutest!?

Dinosaur exhibit

Abby loved the penguins!!

After the aquarium we walked to Johnny Rocket's and got us some yummy milkshakes.

The rest of the night was us relaxing and watching movie after movie. It was the best day!

The next morning we got up and headed to church!

We had so much fun with Abby! It actually made Russ and I spend more quality time together and put stress on hold. We usually would be trying to clean or do homework, but Abby took our minds off all of that because we really tried to make this past weekend all about her. I loved it!

Get away to Charleston

I finally finished my first semester at UTK. Woo Hoo! It was so much more time consuming than I imagined and my new little blog had to be put on hold. Boo! I hope this next semester will be better, since my goal is to blog once a week.

I have a few weeks off before starting the Fall semester, so my husband, parents, and oldest brother went to Charleston for a little get-away. We had the best time!

We stayed at the Embassy Suites in downtown Charleston. I was really impressed with how big it was inside. I also loved that it had free breakfast, a pool, and was within walking distance to everything you would want to see in Charleston.

This was the inside! Impressive, right?!

We visited Fort Sumter the first day. It came a huge down pour as we were getting on the ferry to take us there, but cleared up by the time we reached the island.

It was still VERY humid, though!

My madre and padre

Justin and Dad exploring.

Beautiful views!

There is itty bitty me! I actually saw dolphins shortly after this. :)

Me pre-tan. This proves I spent my Summer studying and working. Yuck.

Heading back.

After going to Fort Sumter, Russ went and ate with a friend he met in law school that lives in Charleston (not fair), while my family and I ate at Bubba Gump's Shrimp. Russ isn't a fan of chain restaurants, so it worked out well for him.

Then we met back up and shopped. Russ is so good about going shopping with me. He lets me shop as long as I want and will give his opinion when needed. I love that about him! I ended up finding a really cute dress and earrings at a trendy, local shop. It was fun!

For dinner, we went to Jestine's Kitchen and holy moly was it good! It was comfort food all the way! Russ and I shared a plate (as we usually do to keep costs down). And thankfully the portion sizes were huge! We shared fried chicken and for dessert we had their coca-cola cake. Best cake ever!

Sooo good!

Justin's sides: greens and cabbage... We picked on him about this the rest of the trip. ;)

The next day we went to the beach at the Isle of Palms. I was surprised at how nice the beach was! The sand was soft and it wasn't all that crowded. However, somehow it happens every time to us that no matter where we sit some annoying group will come sit around us. The movie theater is the worst! Sure enough, right after finding the most perfect spot, here comes a bunch of teenage girls! They put their blanket right behind us and talk really loud saying "like" way too many times. Come on!! *end of rant* All in all though it was a great beach day! I got a tan and that is what was most important! Plus, Russ and I split a whole 16 inch pizza between the two of us. There is nothing better than pizza, coke, and the beach.

That night we went to Hyman's Seafood to eat. It was def the best meal! It is a must if going to Charleston!

Russ and his love for oysters! Gross!

The best dish ever! Carolina delight with shrimp! One of the best meals of my life. No joke.

The next day we went on a carriage tour of Charleston. Russ and I had ridden one back in October when we visited for our anniversary, but with a different group. This ride was much better and we got a different route! I think it all depends on the route you get and your guide, and somehow we got the best of both. I could have listened to our tour guide all day. I didn't get any pictures because it was hot, we were sweaty, and it was crowded. After the ride we went to tour one of the houses that we saw while on the carriage. I love looking at houses. I am one of those people that leave their TV on HGTV all day haha. The house was impressive, but I couldn't understand one word our french tour guide was saying! (I really wanted my carriage tour guide back!) We weren't allowed to take pictures in the house. The only picture I have is at The Battery.

Look at those trees! So pretty!

We did a lot of shopping and went swimming at the hotel's pool. It was a nice day. That night we skipped dinner and went for dessert instead.

(Can you tell I love food?)

Our trip was so relaxing. I have missed my family so much since moving and I am so glad I got to spend some quality time with them. I really wasn't ready for it to be over. :(

Just look at that view! This was taken with my camera phone and was not edited at all. Beautiful!
